-
You will need to fill out your local state application form from the Nursing Aide Registry, and make sure to sign, date, and notarize it. There are many lawyers out there who will be happy to help you with the notarization service, and their fees are generally reasonable. You will then need to send in the form to the local division of the State Licensing Office. Many states will also ask you to attach a recent confirmed photograph, signed by two people who know you, to the forms with the application fee in the form of a draft, or certified money order.
-
You will also need to pick up and fill out a local Verification of Training form to ensure that the college, or nursing school, you completed the program in is part of a recognized program which has local accreditation. You will be required to give this form the the college or nursing school itself, and they will fill it out and send it to the Nurse Aide Registry.
-
You will need to submit a recent copy of a medical as well as a background check. You will have to fill out a fingerprint form and submit it to the local Department of Safety and will be checked against both the local state and national criminal records database.
-
Your application will also need to be run by the local board of nursing who will need to approve your application before you can be eligible for a CNA License.
-
You can get a temporary permit if it is really necessary, however you will only be issued a temporary permit after you have submitted your fingerprints and the processing fee the the CNA License. If you wish to fast track your can license application, you can also get an endorsement application. In order to do this you need to get your licensing verified by a website such as Nursys.com or the state where you originally passed your nursing examination.
-
The total cost for getting your CNA License is going to be between $300 and $600, depending on which state you are applying to.
-
The entire licensing process will take anywhere from four to eight weeks, this is from the time the application is received and processed.
-
You will be notified when your license is ready by either e-mail or letter. You will not be able to just call up the state Nursing Board and ask about the status of your application however..
