Making the choice to study to be a Certified Nursing Assistant is one of the best choices you can make for your career in the health industry. Once you have completed the course, and passed two different exams, you will be certified as a Certified Nursing Assistant.

You will get a license number which will allow you to work independently in nursing homes or hospitals. You could even freelance privately, and with that CNA license in hand it will give you a lot of credibility and you can charge more for your services, and get more work as it is proven you know what you are doing.

It is really important to make sure that your CNA License is up to date. If you don't know if your CNA license is valid or not, you will need to make sure it is!

What is the Process to Verify a CNA License?

Luckily, the process for verifying your CNA License is extremely easy. Here are the steps to follow if you wish to verify your CNA License:

• Grab the local phone book and look up the address and phone number of your local CNA Licensing authority and registry office.

• Check the registry site for your state for online registration. Places such as California already have an online verification system which will let you know the status of your CNA License right online. In cases when that is not possible, you will need to verify the information in person.

• If you do happen to have to visit the registry office in person, be sure to remember to take your licensing information with you. The information you will need is the certification number; license number and the date of issue. However, if you don't have this information, you should be able to get the information with just your social security number.

• It is important to remember that the verification process is not free. You will be expected to pay a small amount in order to have access to this service. This fee varies from state to state, and can change without notice. In order to have an accurate price you will need to contact your local registry office.

• There are usually two different options for getting a real copy of your certificate and license. The license might be mailed to you, which will take up to two weeks, or you can have it e-mailed to you. If you need this copy for work purposes, it is better to have it mailed to you, as it will have the seal of the licensing authority on it.
  

• If you don't mind paying a bit extra, or are in a hurry, you can check the status of your license with a third party checking company. While the results will be fast, you need to be prepared to pay a bit more than by going through your local registry.

Always remember if you are out of state, you will need to contact the registry office in the state where the license was issued, unless you specifically asked it to be transferred to the state you are currently in.
